Howard Bond: "In The Presence Of Mystery" | ||
|
With most great photographers we are given the opportunity to look at the world
in a way we never could have before. Howard Bond does this by giving our eyes
so much sharp detail that his landscapes take on a mysterious quality. Ordinary
20/20 vision couldn't pick up this much information. Typically, we think of fog
or maybe a woods blurred with movement as evoking mystery. But here it's the exact
opposite. A sand dune completely revealed, with nothing to keep you from staring
into it as long as you want. A stream in a forest holding still for us to think
about it—the leaves and wet rocks so crisp, so finely resolved that they become
palpable. His photographs invite meditation perhaps because of that sense of mystery
and, at the same time, availability. All photographs are 10" x 13" on 16" x 20" mounts for $375 or 15" x 19" on 22" x 28" mounts for $600. Either contact Howard Bond directly or LightBox to purchase or inquire for more information. For information on his workshops click here. Howard
